Sustainability
As a company that conducts business activities in countries and regions around the world, we strive
to coexist and prosper in harmony with society and local communities.
Our activities are supported by the trust of the local community. As a responsible member of
society, we adhere to both domestic and international rules and standards.
We also foster mutual understanding and cultural growth across diverse communities. By engaging in
activities that help preserve local landscapes, we are committed to
building strong connections with people in countries and regions around the world where we provide
elevators and escalators.
In 2024, Fujitec began a sponsorship partnership with the NPO WheeLog, an organization striving for “a world in which anyone can go anywhere,” as part of our commitment to fostering a society of mutual understanding. As part of our research into universal design, we held an online forum called “Wheelchair × Elevator Roundtable with Fujitec 2024.” During the forum, Fujitec development researchers and wheelchair users exchanged views on various topics, such as button placement and the use of door-open extension buttons.

We conduct safety classes to ensure the safe use of elevators and escalators. To ensure our mobility systems remain convenient and safe, we focus on annual awareness campaigns primarily targeting elementary school students to teach them the proper way to use elevators and escalators.
Launched in Japan in 2013, the program has welcomed more than 3,300 participants to date, and we are implementing similar initiatives at our overseas subsidiaries as well.

A volunteer team from Shanghai Huasheng Fujitec Escalator, Fujitec Shanghai Sourcing Center, and Fujitec Shanghai Technologies participated in the national civilized city construction activity in Songjiang District to help make the city cleaner.
Eight employees of Fujitec Thailand participated in the treeplanting event organized by AssetWise Public Co., Ltd. and planted 15 trees in Wareephirom Park in the Thai capital of Bangkok.
Fujitec Thailand actively takes part in environmental sustainability activities organized by major developers.
As an initiative of the Head Office in Shiga Prefecture (Japan), Fujitec has participated in reed cutting around Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, since 2014. Reed, a perennial grass, grows around the lake. They are historically used in Japanese daily life, especially as a material for thatched roofs and sudare (reed screens), and Japanese people have been taking care of fields of reed grass.
Cutting grown plants of reed in winter will help the plants to grow new shoots in next year. As such, companies, mainly located in Shiga Prefecture, have established a network for protecting Lake Biwa through reed management to regenerate reed fields. Fujitec takes active part in this initiative.
Harvested plants are processed into "reed paper" and sold as notebooks and copier paper. Sales proceeds are used for activities to grow reeds.
We plan to continue this activity.
Fujitec America participated in "Angel Tree" volunteer activities to provide a gift for children.
"Angel Tree" is an activity that provides a gift to children through the Salvation Army, an American charitable organization. Fujitec America has been participating in and supporting this project since 2022. The process of "Angel Tree" activities is as follows.
①The children registered as "Angels" fill in the tags with their name, age, gender, and the clothes and toys they would like to receive.
②The supporters, who have seen these tags, purchase gifts and deliver them to The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army distributes them to "angels", or children.
At Fujitec America, the tags with children's writing are distributed equally to each department. The employees who receive the tags buy the gifts according to the descriptions on the tags and give them to the children.
The employees said, "We are very happy that we can contribute to the needy children in the local society. We want to participate in this volunteer activity again next year, "and" Fujitec America will continue to take a very positive approach to Angel Tree volunteer activities.
The tag with the name of an item requested by each child is attached to each Christmas gift.
Fujitec made a donation to support regional revitalization to the "Wata-SHIGA Kagayaku National Sports and Para-Sports" event (79th national sports event and 24th para-sports event) held in Shiga Prefecture and was awarded the "Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon*" by the Japanese government. We will continue actively supporting local communities, not only in Shiga Prefecture where our Big Wing headquarters is located but also in other regions.
* The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon, one of Japan's national honors, is awarded by the national government to individuals, corporations, and organizations that donate their own funds for the public good.
