CoCoLo Niigata is a commercial building directly connected to JR Niigata Station. Shops selling special local products from Niigata Prefecture and restaurants that could be found in "Yokochou" (a narrow alleyway set back from the main streets) stand side by side in the commercial facilities.
In this building, Fujitec installed six (6) elevators and ten (10) escalators for the purpose of making people flow from the station to the place where they will stay pleasantly in a quiet space and they also want to come and be in such a place. The space to make people have such purposes and make them feel a very comfort as the third place for their daily lives is the building's open atrium, "Gatarium" (the word coinage made by gata from the prefecture name, "Niigata" and by rium from atrium).
In this Gatarium, two (2) units of Fujitec escalators and one (1) unit of Fujitec observation elevator operate to provide people with comfortable movement. They also contribute to the creation of the space of people's social exchange, which leads to the creation of people's vivid life and prosperous activities of the city.
For the said observation elevator, a standard type of XIOR elevator is adopted. In order to match the arrangement of various devices in the elevator shaft to the design arranged for the “Gatarium,” the locations of the windows on the rear side are different from those on the right and left sides.
In addition, the elevators are equipped with "In-Car Crowd-Level Indicator" of their landing floors. The users waiting for the elevator at the landing can know the crowding level of the coming elevator before boarding.
