Onikuru is a complex building in Ibaraki City. It is located in the middle area between Japan Railway’s Ibaraki Station and Hankyu Railway’s Ibaraki City Station.

This building has seven (7) floors above ground where a hall, a library, a child-raising support center, a planetarium, a civic activity center, and various other functional facilities are aggregated.

The synergy effect created by the combination of various activities and functions makes this building a remarkable cultural facility.

The name given to this facility building, “Onikuru” (which means an ogre (Oni) comes (kuru)) has been adopted from the names applied openly by the Ibaraki City's citizens.

This name has the meaning that when even scary ogres see the Mascot Character of Ibaraki City: “Ibaraki Doji (Doji: Child in English)” in this facility, they will feel fun and feel like coming to this facility.

Fujitec installed eight (8) elevators and twelve (12) escalators in this complex building.

Two (2) of the eight (8) elevators are observation elevators which are designed to match the glass exterior of the building. The high floors of the building provide people with a panoramic view of Ibaraki City.

In addition to the above well-designed elevators, the escalators installed in the atrium from the 1st to the 7th floors have glass on their side panels; they have the design specifications suitable for the open-air space in the building.
