Tokyo Women’s Medical University is Japan’s only medical university for women. In 2003, the Ambulatory Care Center was opened in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo as part of the initiative to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the university’s foundation. Housed in a building with six floors above ground and three underground, the center has approximately 40 departments and plays an active role as a medical hub. Fujitec elevators and escalators, including an open-hatch observation model, enable patients and visitors to move around the center.
