2026.09.30 Fujitec Holds Lecture by Ms. Yuriko Oda, Representative Director of Certified NPO WheeLog

Fujitec Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan; President and CEO: Yuji Ichimura) hosted a lecture on September 2, 2026, at its Big Wing Head Office, inviting Ms. Yuriko Oda, Representative Director of the certified NPO, WheeLog (hereinafter “WheeLog”).

WheeLog is an organization aiming for “a world in which anyone can go anywhere,” operating “WheeLog!”, a user-contributed barrier-free mapping application.

Guided by its brand vision, “Moving freely. Elevating lives,” Fujitec signed a sponsorship partner agreement with WheeLog in 2024. Since then, the company has deepened its exchanges through various initiatives, including hosting online roundtable discussions between wheelchair users and Fujitec’s Technology Research Department—which conducts research on elevator and escalator technologies—as well as participating in barrier-free town-walking events organized by WheeLog.

The lecture, themed “Building Tomorrow by ‘Never Giving Up,'” covered Ms. Oda’s personal journey, mobility challenges from the perspective of wheelchair users, and the current state of elevator and escalator infrastructure both in Japan and abroad. A lively Q&A session followed in the second half, featuring numerous questions from employees.

Fujitec has identified “Coexisting with society and local communities” as one of its materialities (key issues). This lecture was held to deepen understanding of social challenges and to further instill the brand vision among employees.

A total of 257 employees participated either in person or via live online streaming on the day of the event. The recording was also made available on demand for broader employee viewing. Feedback from participating employees included:

  • “I gained a renewed appreciation for the weight and importance of our brand vision.”
  • “I truly realized how vital it is to approach product development from the user’s perspective.”
  • “Knowing that people rely on my work (elevators) makes me want to contribute to creating products that deliver ‘Safety and Reliability’ and even greater comfort.”

Through ongoing dialogue with society, Fujitec will continue to accurately grasp social and regional challenges to realize its brand vision, “Moving freely. Elevating lives.”
