Shiga, Japan – Fujitec Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Masayoshi Harada) hereby announces that its escalator development and manufacturing base Big Step in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, has won a Factory Management Award of the 13th GOOD FACTORY Awards 2025 from Japan Management Association. This is the first GOOD FACTORY award ever granted to Fujitec. In addition, Big Step has become the first factory located in Hyogo Prefecture that won the award.

◇About the GOOD FACTORY Awards

The GOOD FACTORY Awards are given to factories that have formed strong bonds with local communities and employees, achieved comprehensive improvement and enhancement across the factory, and become a globally excellent model for other companies. The winners are commended as model Japanese manufacturers particularly for their productivity and quality improvement processes, success factors, the wisdom of workers, changes in employees’ awareness, and social contribution.
The Factory Management Award, which we have won, is given to cases that demonstrate high-level and well-balanced “factory management” as a whole.

◇Judging criteria (excerpt from judges’ comments)

The factory:
(1) promotes a systematic reform in light of business strategy and regional characteristics
(2) takes on challenges to change what needs to be changed (to fulfill customer needs and create a self-driven climate)
(3) thoroughly preserves what should not be changed (safety and reliability, quality-focused activities)
(4) works to enhance sustainability through close cooperation with local communities, environmental impact reduction or other ingenious activities.
