Launch of Environmentally Friendly Biodiesel Fuel in Company Trucks
Fujitec Co., Ltd. (Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture; President: Masayoshi Harada) announced that the Company switched from diesel to biodiesel fuel as part of its efforts to reduce environmental impact. The Company began using biodiesel fuel in May 2024 in 4-ton trucks owned by Big Step, the Company base for escalator R&D and production.
The biodiesel fuel used is an environmentally friendly fuel that meets JIS standards equivalent to those of diesel fuel. The Company produces biodiesel fuel by collecting tempura oil used in the homes of company employees and processing it with the alkali catalyst method at a recycled biofuel production company.
Big Step trucks utilize this fuel.Recycling waste tempura oil from households reduces the amount of garbage to be incinerated and the use of fossil fuels.
In the Medium-Term Management Plan Move ON 5, announced in May 2024, the Company focuses on reducing its environmental impact. The Company aims to achieve a 46% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
The Company participates actively in measures to address global environmental issues and contribute to society.
