The Agency for Cultural Affairs is a special body of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) that moved from Kasumigaseki, Tokyo to Kyoto Prefecture.
The new government building located at Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto consists of a newly built six-story administrative building and renovated three-story former Kyoto Prefectural Police Headquarters building. Next to the new building are the "Kyoto Prefectural Assembly building" and "Kyoto Prefectural Office Building" (Important Cultural Properties).
